Engagement Rings Made from Inherited Stones

The beauty of diamonds and gemstones is that they last for generations, and your jewellery can feel even more special when you know that it has been in the family for a long time. Not everyone has Lady’s Diana’s jewellery collection to choose from for their proposal, but you don’t need to be Prince William or Harry to redesign a piece to propose with. We have made a number of engagement rings using family jewellery or gemstones.

An engagement ring made from an heirloom stone or your mother’s old engagement ring is lovely and if you are lucky, the design might be classic enough to suit your proposal. However, in most cases, the rings do need some refreshing or simplifying for today’s wearer.

We used only the centrepiece Diamond from the old ring (left) as J had a clear idea of the design he wanted. He is keeping the old setting to set another stone in future.

A loose Blue Sapphire (right) from his parents was used as centrepiece, flanked by diamonds from his mum’s old ring. The result is a new engagement ring in a classic design that suits the large royal looking Blue Sapphire.

His grandmother’s ring (left) with an Emerald and two Diamonds was refashioned with a leaf design to suit the new stylish wearer (right).
